These dumbells are newly advertised on television, much like the Bowflex Home Gym systems were and are. They are two dumb bells, but have adjustments on the side which change the desired weight. I know that brands like Tech Rod exist that make generic comparisons to the Bowflex Home Gym System. I was hoping to find a generic version of these dumbbells (Bowflex SelectTech 552 Dumbbells is the official product name). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If that is the type of dumbbells you are looking for, I would look at PowerBlock. They are about the same price (maybe a little cheaper), but the main thing with these are they have models that can be upgraded up to 130 lbs. The Bowflex SelectTech dumbbells are not upgradable, and only go to 52.5 lbs.

For me, though, I don't use any of this type. I have a set of dumbbells that you manually change the plates on. They are a lot less expensive ($25 for a 40 lb set), and can be upgraded to whatever you need. I also have a curl bar and straight bar that take the same plates.

Agreed. I once bought generic TP so I could save 40 cents and I ended up having to pick it off me after wiping. ewwww And 2 weeks ago I bought generic garbage bags and when I took it out of the garbage can the bottom ripped out and leftover chicken with gravy and cigarette butts and ashes and cat litter and cat poop were all over the floor. again, ewwww. I was really pissed. I've learned my lesson and can officially call myself a Hefty Scott girl 4eva!
