I think playing by moving the remote all around sounds fun, but my Girl would like to know if she can play zelda with a basic controller without all the hand and arm motions?

You need to use the motion controller to play the game. If she would like to play Zelda with a regular controller, you might want to consider waiting for the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess which is coming out in mid December.

Gamecube games will play fine on Wii and both are virtually the same game, with just different means of control.

The wii version only uses the wii remote, if you want to play with a traditional controller, you can still play it on the wii, you can purchase the gamecube version and connect a gamecube controller to it (wii is 100% compatible with gamecube games). You'll need a gamecube memory card as well.

theoreticly, yes scence you can use a gamecube controller with the wii and the Zelda game will also come out in the gamecube version, but i cannot prove this 100% because i do not have a wii,but i played my friends Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi 2 with the gamecube controller.

you HAVE to use the Wii conrolers to play ANY Wii game, but you can buy the ADSACT same zelda for the gamecube. but i REALY recommend the Wii, i have it..its freaking amazing. i all so have zelda and every thang is so EASY. any one could play this, she will do good. all the revews i have see for it, said that they played the gamecube and the Wii version, and they said they would NEVER go back to the gamecube one. bye the Wii, good luck getting your hands on one thoe. try wal-mart on the 1st. the one by my house is getting them than, you could go to your locel wal-mart and ask. you mite want to stand in line for like a hour, to make sure you get one, would you rather 1. go there right when it opens, and might get one or 2. stand in line for a cuple of hours, and get one for sure?

I'm not too sure about this but if not get the Gamecube version. Its the same exact thing (a used cube is like 50 bucks) with no changes.
