You'd be perfectly fine at college. I'm almost 24 and in my senior year. My boyfriend is nearly 28 and in his senior year. You'll be fine. Go for it!

My best friend is 33 and started college for the first time this year! Another is 30 and just applying to schools.

You have nothing to worry about, being 22. Thousands of students wait to go to school. And consider all those who change their majors halfway through, and end up "starting over" at 21 or 22 (like I did.)

I think you'll find a HUGE advantange by starting school now. You're more mature, will do better in classes and will take it more seriously than those who have come straight from high school.

It will be a little weird because you will be older than most other kids in your class and you will also be at a different maturity level. My friend went to college at 22 after 4 years in the Marines and he said it was weird at first, but once you start to meet people and get to know them, you will be less likely to notice the difference in ages.

Just imagine how much further along you will be with your work experience, real life experience, and hopefully higher maturity level.

Just make sure you pick the right major since you're starting behind the curve. You don't want to make a mistake and "waste" a year or two only to find our you picked the wrong major and have to start over again. Due to market conditions where I live, I had to go back at age 39 to get my accounting hours to make a transition to the accounting field. Wish I had picked that field when I first went to college.

Best of luck to you.

My sister started college at 28. Never felt weird. If anything, I think it worked out better for her, because she was in and out. She had done all the partying she wanted and she was ready to go for a college education and get started in the business world. Believe me, you won't be the oldest person on campus. You're 22! Enjoy college!

gee, i went to college 6 years after the birth of my son. i was no spring chicken. who cares but you when you go to college? the point i'm trying to make is that you have already taken care of those wild times when most college students coming directly out of high school flunk out because they just are not ready.

if you have a burning desire to go to college, it doesn't matter how old you are: you will ace it. just think about the things you enjoy doing, then talk to guidance counselors at the college to determine what things you should study to attain your goals.

i say, DO IT!

don't be silly. there are plenty of folks in your shoes. Don't let anything get in the way of completing your education. You'll be surprised at how many people you'll meet that are your age or older. Anyway, you are still young enough that most people wouldn't even think that you were not in their age range.
