With your green card, you can apply for Visa to enter/leave Vietnam. The green card is required for you to re-enter the US.

Depending on which country passport you have. Since you are a green card holder, I assume you aren't a US citizen, so you may need a visa to visit Vietnam. Unless you are from Vietnam's neighbours such as Thailand, Laos, etc, these countries have agreements to allow their citizens to enter and leave Vietnam within certain period. Anyway, I'd check with the Vietnamese embassy to make sure.

a green card is only good to re enter the US, you need a valid passport, entry visa can be obtained upon entering the country

You won't need the green card in Viet Nam.

Doesnt matter what passport you have (apart from Viet), you need a visa to go there
