i mean how can u tell ur kids its wrong to celebrate christmas because the facts arent right about jesus's birth... half the kids dont really think of jesus on christmas they think of a jolly fatman that breaks into ur house and gives u presants. i dont have a religion and i celebrate christmas. just let ur kids be spoiled for atleast 1 day a year.

Agreed! Even if the facts aren't right with all the religious stuff (hey, they probably aren't!) it's what Christmas stands for which makes it such as great day! It's about the whole 'feeling loved' thing. It's good that everyone gets together and spoils each other! It's important for everyone to give (and receive!).

That's how one of my cousins is. Her mom(also my cousin), weird i know, she married this guy who is a weird religious guy i'm not even sure the religion exists. But she turned her mom into that religion and ever since my cousin was maybe 3 or 4 she's never had a Christmas since. No santa or a present subsitute nothing. They can't even put up lights or anything. I always felt bad every year because they'd be at my grandma's house when we'd exchange presents and they could never join in on the fun, she's now 16 and has never really had a Christmas. She's definatly not unspoiled though, brand new car, license, always has hair and nails done. It's just weird.

I'm glad we have a day like this to celebrate. I love to buy the things that my family wants or even needs as gifts for them. It's also a great time to spend with your family and to enjoy each others company. We live in such a fast pace world that we hardly take the time to be with those we love so much, and this is a great day to spend with them. I do practice religion and believe in all that Christ is and his birth. But I don't think he minds sharing his birthday with our gift giving to others that we hold dear to our hearts. My kids know the true meaning of Christmas and about Christ birth. And if anyone wants to know more about how it got started you can always use the Internet to find out. One place is : http://Christmasarchives.com/trees. Or you can go to yahoo home page and just type in; How did Christmas get started, and go to the first addresses and read about it. I found it pretty interesting that the lights on the tree honored the birth of Christ.

I teach my kids that Christmas is a cruel Joke and that we can honor Jesus by not celebrating this PAGAN religion-

Christmas is CELEBRATION OF NIMROD
(THE EVIL DUDE IN THE BIBLE)AND HIS FUNKY RELIGION AND REBELLION AGAINST GOD. And then Christmas goes into Nimrod being reicarnated as Tammaz on DEC 25

The PAGNISM list goes on and on
EVIL EVIL EVIL MASKED AS JESUS
HOW SAD THIS IS

I give my kids gifts and we have a dinner but we do not
a Christmas tree
Ornaments
Santa Clause
etc

My kids are fine with this and do not feel deprived
If we drive around town we look at the lights and comment how pretty they are but that is as close to Christmas as my family will ever get

We totally ban Easter to
We celebrate PassOver just like God Commaded

I agree lots of people arnt religious and celebrate christmas. its a fun day where we get to have a break from the norm and celebrate family. thats what we tell the children in our family when they ask about christmas because we are not that religious. we just tell them that its about celebrating family and friends and it a good time to do something nice for others like giving gifts.

What's odd for me is that I had someone who wouldn't let her son believe in Santa, and she was agnostic?!?!?!! It was weird. She said, "Why should I give the credit away to something that doesn't exist?" So her kid has no imagination and basically Christmas is just about getting as much as you can.

My thoughts. My kids know about Jesus, they know the reason for the season. We are Catholic and St. Nick is a SAINT!!!! Hello?!?!?!?! He is religious, he was a do gooder who gave toys to orphans, so we celebrate the magic of St. Nick and his giving spirit.

How is that wrong?

Im agnostic and I go all out crazy on Christmas! I love every bit of it! It makes me feel wonderful. When I decide to have children, they will have a Christmas just like mine, with Christmas lights everywhere, family, and tons of gifts that will brighten their day!!

I am not sure what you are trying to say...But my dilemma as a Mom and as a Christian is that if I lie to my children about Santa, telling them things about him that are not true, as in he is omniscient and omnipotent.....then they may not believe me when I tell them the truth about God, that He is omniscient and omnipotent. I have allowed my children to make Santa a part of the Christmas celebration, but we keep him on the same level that we do Micky Mouse when we see him at Disneyland.

I'm with you. We don't practice any religion either, yet we celebrate just for the fact of it being a fun family event, as we do with any other holiday. I also take part in singing all the religious songs because they are beautiful and fun to sing. I don't believe in Jesus, but that doesn't stop me from joining in.
