there both good pitchers..but i would have to say zito but his arm streath seems to wear down more towards the end of the season..plus zito is younger and has more movement on his pitches

Barry Zito

Well, Schmidt has better stuff, but he has a lot of miles on his arm. Zito is not an ace, he's a number two or three. I'd still go after Zito, though, the Mets will score enough to make him a big winner.

And no, I don't see the Yankees going after either of them, the way they've been burned with free agent pitchers recently (Wright, Pavano).

Im an A's fan and hated to see him go. But I think The mets should get Zito, he is a good quality pitcher, and has Never been injured before. He hasnt missed a single start in the big leagues

Jason Schmidt is not a good signing for whoever signs him. His fastball has lost SERIOUS velocity. He has gone from throwing 95-97, to throwing 92mph. And he has a bad back and a shoulder that has put him on DL more than once, AND he isnt young anymore..ild avoid him like the Plague. Zito isnt anything to lose yer mind over, but he is the best out there, i wuld go with him.

If those are my only two choices, I pick Zito. Younger and and has a lively arm. Had the best curve in the majors. Only concern is arm strength. Last two years he has wore down towards the end of the season.

Definitely Zito. Not so sure about Schmidt, he is a great pitcher but also getting on in his career.
