Here is the link from Sony's site (the learning center one). It shows you the upgrade paths and what Sony is charging for their upgrades to Vista.
If you were buying the OS by itself, you are looking at an MSRP of 200 dollars just for the Home Basic edition, and 239 dollars for Home Premium. Assuming you have XP Home on the laptop, you'd be spending only 45$ to get Vista Home Basic, or 75$ to get Home Vista Premium.
If you go to the Microsoft link and click on the 'details' button beneath each edition, it will give you a writeup for that edition and the MSRP.

No such thing, sorry to say
-------------Upgrade------Full-version----------
Vista Basic - $100 $200
Vista Premium- $ 200 $300
Vista Ultamit - $300 $400
Easy way to tell which one you are getting though is Windows XP Home gets Vista Basic, Windows XP Media Center gets Vista Premium, Windows XP Pro gets Vista Ultimate. This is only for OEM machines (Sony, HP, Gateway).
