Dont listen to them. When youre an adult with a nice paying job they will be cleaning out the toilets in the building you work in.

Our friends just turned 60, and not only have they bought and read every Harry Potter book, they have also bought the books on tape to listen to while traveling. Another friend (an attorney) is in his early 50s and LOVES reading his son's Harry Potter books!
You keep reading - you don't realize until you are older how much you learn from books. I can still come up with stuff that I learned from reading years and years ago, that my husband has never heard of!
Don't be concerned about what people say about your good grades. They are jealous, and unable/unwilling to put in the hard work and time it takes. Your grade point average is very important in high school and getting into college.
Knowledge is power. The more you learn and experience, the better for you, and the more prepared you will be in life.

There's nothing wrong with learning or liking to read! I spent the better part of my youth with my face in a book. From my experience, people that make fun of you for it are actually either jealous or intimidated by it. As my mother always used to say, "just consider the source".
My husband and I are both big Harry Potter fans (we each got our own copy of the last two books at the midnight releases so we could read them at the same time). My husband teaches 7th Grade and from what I've seen, he's one of the most popular teachers in the school so I don't think too many of the kids consider him "geeky" because of his love for Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc...
I work with computers and proudly tell people that I'm a "professional computer geek" and they get a kick out of it. Be yourself and be proud of it!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with learning, and there is nothing wrong with reading Harry Potter books. You have to wonder at the motive of anyone who says you are a geek for enjoying something like that. I say, keep it up, and enjoy yourself.

Nothing is wrong with learning or reading Harry Potter books. I think the only reason why people say negative things about it is because your unique from them. You have the brains, the imagination, and a bright future. People will judge because they are different from themselves. A dominance. People who put labels on others always prey on the ones who are "unique" from everyone else. :)

people who get good grades are geeks, but its cool! but u obviously only get out what u put in. but i gotta admit, it pisses me off in exams at uni when i look at the guy next to be being a complete geek and writing more than me, but he worked for it, so on ya bro! as for harry potter books, call me a geek cos i read a trilogy written by philip paulman and loved it, and i like starwars ha! everyones got a bit of geek in them whether they like it or not, but its up to u to control that inner geekness and stop it from comming out at inappropriate times and places

A professor of mine years ago, I am 62, heard a couple of his students putting down another student, who was at the head of his class, and a book worm. The professor turned to me and said, " you know my boy, those two prove there are more horses asses then there are horses." I smiled and he patted me on the back. I have always remembered that through the years. When you get to my age, peer presure is a joke. I never have cared what people thought and have had a wonderful full life. Hope you have one too.

Did you know that by reading, doing crossword puzzles, brain teasers, and other activities that stimulate the brain are good exercises that will help keep Alzheimer's disease at bay? I try to keep learning all the time. If you stop, you lose. Reading is excellent for the brain. Be sure to use good lighting though. It can be hard on the eyes if you do it in dim lighting. Anything that makes you think is exercise for the brain.
