when would the prices start to drop???after christmas or a long time from now?or someone give me just about a pretty sure estimate...

It will be a while before the price drops on the 360. Definitely not before Christmas. If it does drop it would only be about $50 at first.
Save up the extra money and go get the pro system, your missing out on all the fun!
(Hint: Ask for Best Buy gifts cards for Christmas)

No one really knows when there's a price drop, but it's not going to be this year, that's for sure.
Several things are going to determine whether or not there's going to be a price drop any time soon.
1. If the PS3 fails miserably, then no price drop anytime soon. If the PS3 is a huge success, then MS might have to do a price drop in order to compete. The PS3 is the 360's main rival as they target the same audience, so price drop is most likely going to depend on the success or failure of the PS3.
2. If the Wii is hugely successful, then MS might do a price drop to compete. If the Wii isn't a major success, then MS might not do a price drop.
3. The sales of the 360. If people are still buying the 360 at 300/400 bucks, then MS has no reason to do a price drop. If nobody is buying the 360, then MS will lower the price to entice more customers. If this is true, then there's probably going to be price drop sooner rather than later because MS has sold only 3 million units with the 1 year lead. In console sales, that's not a huge lead. It's a rather disappointing lead considering MS had high expectations for the 360.
4. Cost for parts. If MS manages to find a way to get the parts for the 360 at a cheaper price, then there will be a price drop soon. If the parts are still the same, then there probably won't be a price drop.

Since the heat is on with the other consoles coming out I'm guessing they would drop the prices to compete. Amazon sold 1,000 core systems for a hundred bucks and they were gone in a second.

prices for ANYTHING that comes before christmas will drop significantly the day it came out but the year after. so same date but in 07
x box sucks though, oh well! hope this helps ya!
