i baught the sims 2 games and i instaled it but after i instraled it it said i needed something called directx.9 i have no idea what that is or how to get it or what it does can anyone help me please ?

I assume you have Windows XP?
You should have your Windows updated, all available updates from Microsoft which will give you the latest performance and security, and the latest DirectX.
