Oh yea I mean there has to be a sunny day once in awhile. Or maybe trips to the zoo or play ground. You want a stroller to take them to the mall or to be confined when you need them to be still and not in your arms. Like if you have a doctors apt.

Even if you're not planning on going for long walks, strollers can be very helpful. The car seat gets very heavy, and the stroller makes it a lot easier to do errands. The best stroller for a newborn is the snap n'go. You can pop the car seat out of the car and snap it onto the stroller. It also has a great basket.

Strollers are GREAT and so useful, even if you don't want to take long walks with the baby. Is it always cold where you are? What about going to a mall or a restaurant? It gets very cold here but we've got all 4 seasons so there are plenty of opportunities to use a stroller for long walks. Honestly though,I don't think that I could have survived 3 girls without a stroller. I would suggest sitting down and thinking about how much you're going to be out and about and what sort of places you'll be going. Then think about all the added stuff you'll have to be bringing with you because of the baby (diapers, food, extra clothes, etc.) Strollers come in very handy if there is a large basket or you can hang things from the handles.
For a newborn baby I would suggest getting the car seat that you can clip into a base and carry the baby around in. This would be especially useful if you don't end up getting a stroller. The seat easily clips onto a grocery cart and you can sling it over your arm and carry it. Something like this:

**an added bonus about these car seats (especially for cold weather) is that you can buy this hand accessory (works with any carseat really) and it keeps your baby nice and snug. This can also be used with a stroller once the baby gets older, you can sling the stroller straps through the openings. It was great here when it was freezing outside!

Now if you do choose to get a stroller this is my favorite one to start out with that goes with the above mentioned car seat. It is so easy to use and there are many different companies that make all of these strollers and the carseats that range in price.

These 3 products made my life much easier with my baby! They all go together nicely and work wonders for moving around with ease. I loved this carseat in particular because my girls were all car nappers and I was able to lift them out of the car and into the house and place them in their room all while they slept in the seat. And my middle daughter actually preferred to nap in her carseat rather than her crib during the day.
A baby bjorn is also very helpful but not comfortable once your baby gets big or for long periods of time if your baby is big.

I noticed that someone mentioned a bugaboo stroller...they are great strollers for walking around, espeically if you don't need to fold up the stroller everytime you elave the house and put it into the car. They are not fun to fold up and not that easy! OTherwise they are great to push around but I dont' think that they are worth the money in any way. For $600-$800 you could purchase a lot of other things for your baby. We've had snap and go's and a maclearn for our girls and could not have been happier.

there are some great stuff on the market, and friends always look and buy what 'looks the best'. what i want, is something that looks great and is the safest, so GREAT QUESTIONS!
yes, strollers are useful; the big padded ones for walks in the mall or strolls, and the fold up umbrella kind (thin material and compact-perfect to keep in the trunk of the car).
here are 2 of the best links on the planet for our kids: that way, you know which items tested the best, and which baby/childs items are recalled.
take your time and search for just the right one. when you go to the stores (with a list of the best ones) make sure its easy to open/close and locks into place easily...wheel brakes work easy (and stay locked). you'll know, once you've looked at a few exactly what features you want and dont want. the ones with an extra sack in the back or bottom i liked because it always held spare items and shopping bags.
Hope it helps and happy shop'n!

A baby sling would probably be more useful. Wearing your baby leaves your hands free and baby happy and content (it also helps in their physical and psychological development). If you do end up going with a stroller... get a travel system that has the infant car seat... you can use this when walking around the mall, etc.

Yes they are very useful. I would recommend getting the graco brand. I really like the ones that i have has and they are very durable. I am talking about the car seat as well you can get a combo with both the stroller and the car seat. These are normally around $200 but are very well worth it.

I love the stroller that I have. I use mine all the time. If I were you, I would get a stroller, because you can use these things amost everywere. When I got mine, I got the travel system which came with an infant carrier(car seat) also.

good question! strollers can come in all different sizes, designs and colours. They range from newborn to 4 years.... they are really handy and they aren't bulky! They turn into a stroller when you're ready to move your baby to the stroller part. remember don't use a capsule because if you are involvedin a smash then you could seriously injure you baby!

We have an Eddie Bauer carseat and LOVE it. The straps easily adjust as your baby grows. PLUS it comes with this lightweight folding stroller attachment. The nurse who released us from the hospital said it was the best carseat she'd ever inspected!
And your newborn will definatley prefer being snuggled close to you for your walks to a stroller. We have the Evenflo "Snugli". It is wonderful for when baby wants to be held and I need to do things around the house. I just slip it on and she snuggles up on my chest.

I think it is necessary to have a stroller especially if it is cold you can bundle them all warm in the stroller and they can sleep. It also gives your arms a rest. It is a big help for shopping because you can use the stroller to change diapers if the restroom is gross.
