The perimeter of a rectangle is to be no greater than 300 in., and the length must be 125 in. Find the maximum width of the rectangle.

The length of the rectangle occurs twice, so you have 300-250 left for the width, which also occurs twice, so the width will be 25.

300-2(125)=2x
x=25

Solve for x. 3x – 2y = 6
3x=6+2y
x=2+2/3y

Translate the following statement into an algebraic equaion. Let x represent the number.
12 less than 5 times a number is 18.

12-5x=18
5x=18-12
x=6/5

Translate the following statement into an algebraic equaion. Let x represent the number.
6 times a number is 14 more than that number.

6x=14+x
5x=14
x=14/5

1. The perimeter of a rectangle is to be no greater than 300 in., and the length must be 125 in. Find the maximum width of the rectangle.

Given: Perimeter = 300 in.
Length = 125 in.

Required: Width = ?

Solution:
Perimeter = 2Width + 2Length
300 in. = 2Width + 2(125 in.)

width = 25 in.

2. Solve for x. 3x – 2y = 6

Ans: 3X = 6 -2y
X = (6 - 2y) / 3
X = 2 - 2/3y

3. Translate the following statement into an algebraic equaion. Let x represent the number.
12 less than 5 times a number is 18.

Ans: 5X - 12 = 18

4. Translate the following statement into an algebraic equaion. Let x represent the number.
6 times a number is 14 more than that number.

Ans: 6X = X + 14

"The perimeter of a rectangle is to be no greater than 300 in., and the length must be 125 in. Find the maximum width of the rectangle."

Let: x = width, y = length, p = perimeter
p = 2x + 2y
300 = 2x + 2(125)
300 - 250 = 2x
x = 25

"Solve for x. 3x – 2y = 6"
3x = 2y + 6
x = 2/3y + 2

"Translate the following statement into an algebraic equaion. Let x represent the number.12 less than 5 times a number is 18."

5x-12 = 18

"Translate the following statement into an algebraic equaion. Let x represent the number.6 times a number is 14 more than that number."

6x=14+x

(1) perimeter is the length all the way around the rectangle. (length = 125) 125 x 2 = 250 (there must be 2 lengths, so they take up 250), 300-250= 50; (that leaves only 50 left for both short sides of the rectangle, i.e. width) x = width
2x = 50; x = 50/2; x= 25.

(2) 3x - 2y = 6 (add 2y to both sides and you get 3x = 6 + 2y; (divide both sides by 3 and you get x = (6 + 2y)/3

(3) x = the number. 12 less than 5 times the number. 5 times the number. that is 5 times x, or 5x. 12 less than. That's minus 12. (the answer is: 5x -12 = 18)

(4) x = the number. 6 times the number is 6x. 6x is 14 more than the number. 14 more than the number is x + 14. 6x is (the same thing as) x + 14. So the answer is: 6x = x +14

It's been a while, but here goes:

The max width is 25. The perimeter is the total of all 4 sides, with the 2 lengths being equal, and 2 widths being equal. So 300-125-125=50. 50 is what you have left for the total of the 2 widths. 50 / 2 = 25, the width of a single side.

x=2/3 y +2 to solve for x, you have to remove the y term from one side, since it's being subtracted, you have to add it to both sides. It cancels out on the x side, and the other side becomes 6+2y. Then you have to take out the 3. # is being multiplied, so you have to divide by 3 on each side. x is left alone, and each term on the right side is divided by 3, leaving -2/3y and 6 divided by 3 is 3

5x - 12=18

6x=x+14

When translating equations, "is" means "equals". "Less than" means "subtract from" and "more than" means "add to", "times" means "multiply"

12 less means you have to subtract 12 from something. From what? 5 times a number. 5x-12.

6 multiplied by x is the first part of the equation. What is it equal to? x +14

Those should be right, but again, it's been a while :)

Qns 1:

The perimeter of the rectangle is 300".
The length of the rectangle is 125".
Perimeter of a rectangle is 2l + 2w. [l = length, w = width]

Therefore,

2(125") + 2w =300"
250" + 2w =300"
2w =300" - 250"
2w =50"
w = 50" / 2
w = 25".

Qns 2:

3x - 2y = 6
3x = 6 + 2y
x = (6+2y) / 3

Qns 3:
Let number be x.
5x - 12 = 18

Qns 4.
Let number be x.
6x = 14 + x

It's been years since I left school so I hope I get this right.

1)Since the perimeter cannot be greater than 300, it has to be equal to or lesser than 300
2(L+B)<=300.
Substitute for L=125, you will get B<=25.
so answer is . width's maximum value can be 25.

2)keep x on one side and take everything else to other side of the equation.

x = 2/3y + 2

3)start with the number.
5 times the number is 5X
12 less that that is 5x-12
5x-12 = 18

4)similar technique
6 times a number =6x
is = equal to
14 more than. so 14 + something
14 more than that number =14+x
6x=14+x

you may desire to divide 7/8 with the aid of 3/sixteen that's finished with the aid of flipping the three/sixteen to sixteen/3 and multiplying. 7/8 circumstances sixteen/3 = cancel the sixteen and eight to 2 and one million so 7/one million circumstances 2/3 = 14/3 or 4 2/3 So 4 finished products and a couple of/3 of somewhat left over
