http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00208215/c00208215.pdf has the answers. It says on p 139 that 1160 support 600x600 and 1200 in an emulation mode.

300 dpi is fairly coarse. 600 dpi is supported and will just put multiple dots where one 300 dpi dot would be.
