My husband thinks I am the "jack of all trades, master of none." How do I master ONE thing? Here are a few things which I think I am good at, and I know they are very random:

baking and cooking
writing
gift wrapping
I am good at handling children
interior decorating

I'm so confused about what I want to do in the future. A few of my friends have said that most of these would fall under "Art."

I'd say out of my "talents," I enjoy writing the most. I have a passion for writing and once I start, I can't put my pen down. If I am writing a non-fiction piece that has something to do with my life experience(s), I find this a way to get more intimate with your reader. It's a way for them to get to know you better.

Screw trying find to something youre "good at". Some of the things that I'm really good at make me miserable. Try to find something that you ENJOY - and go for that. When you find you are doing something, and time escapes you - you have found the right thing.

Well you could mix the children and writing and write children books. There are career testing at the library or on the Internet you could take. Or you could be come another Martha Steward and use the baking and interior decorating and gift wrapping and go into business for your self.
Home making and Educational classes at a junior college. Or you could sat down and use all those you list and started a list of skills needed and what you like about it. Look each job up in one of those career books and see if it is a fit for you. Bottom line only you can know for sure!

You are good with your hands.
Go to a trade school and learn a trade where you do things with your hands. Avoid jobs where you sit and read spread sheets all day. This is for people good with their minds. These jobs would make you crazy.

PS Tell your husband that because of the crazy world we live in today, we all have to know many different talents just to survive.

It sounds to me like you are good with people. Your friends are right that all your talents fall under art, so maybe you can combine the 2. Maybe work in a hobby craft shop. Or go a different direction. I used to be a teacher, now I am a correctional officer ( jailer). You'd be surprised how dealing with children helped me to deal with adults. Good luck to you, dear. I think your people skills are your most valuable asset.

when you become a "master at one thing" is your husband suggesting you just be satistied at that mastered thing, or does he want you to bring in money at that mastered thing, cause all the things you chose are at the low income of the spectrum.

Usually a mastered thing requires education (a degree), specialization, training, a diploma of some kind, and lots of experience doing it for an employier and later for yourself after you're become an expert in it.

Interior Decoration is better, It pays more and you have to pay less to get your stuff. Many people rely on others to decorate their places, because they are not secure enough to rely on their own chioce. So go on with the decorating and when you decorate a house or something else then bake them a cake as a thank you gift :)

Why do you need to master one?
If you're thinking about career direction, consider counselling. There are people who specialize in helping people get focus. There are tests and questionnaires available to help you, too. Explore your options.

try having a quiet room by yourself and just try to paint what you feel what you like.. or try something you have never done before and maybe you'll like it and practice and practice until you master it
