Thanks for the hostility. But I spoke the truth. Example of Copying holidays...LABOR day, second example THANKSGIVING. Gee, last I heard the pilgrims landed in america, not toronto.

If canada was truly independent from the queen, she would have no Representative at paliament. She would DEFINITELY NOT be on your money (which is not worth as much as america's HA HA)

Yes. I agree with that statement. Just look, they get all our TV shows and all their celebrities have (or want) American citizenship.

Canadian Holidays

New Years - Same in all Western Countries
Good Friday - Christian Holiday
Easter Sunday - Christian Holiday
Easter Monday - Canadian (pseudo-religious holiday)
Victoria Day (May 2-4) - Canadian Holiday
Civic Holiday - Canadian Holiday
Labour Day - Shared with Americans
Thanksgiving - first Monday in October and opposed to November
Hallowe'en - Same, but celebrated in other countries
Remembrance Day - Americans have a differently named holiday on the same day, but so do most European countries
Christmas - Religious Holiday
Boxing Day - Shared with Brits.

In 1982, Canada patriated its Constitution meaning that the British Parliament, which already had limited authority over Canadian affairs, was completely cut out of Canadian politics. The Queen has no real authority in Canada and the Governor-General who is her representative in Canada is appointed on the advice of the Prime Minister and hasn't contradicted Parliament since the 30s

We copy all of your holidays? Which ones Easter and Christmas? Did the rest of the world copy those ones from you. Do you celebrate Victoria day, boxing day, civic holiday? Thanksgiving is celebrated on a different day, and for the majority of people it is an excuse to have a three day weekend.

Our favorite sport is hockey, yours is not. We play football differently.

Ours is a culture of multiculturalism, yours is not.

We value and cherish our social programs like our universal health care program, while you want nothing to do with such a program.

We hate guns and have strict gun control laws.

We have a different form of government and have no desire to change.

We are not arrogant and think that the whole world wants to be like us and god put us on this earth to help mankind.

We lose more jobs to Americans working in Canada than you lose to Canadians working in America.

I can't think of any reasons why a Canadian would want to be a yank, Canada seems a much nicer country.
And, as a Brit, I can say that OUR money is worth twice as much as yours you Yankee buggers, so get off your bloody high horse and stop reinforcing our stereotypes of Americans being fat, stupid, arrogant, ignorant loudmouths.

Have a nice day.

To our neighbors, the Canadians. Don't mind the questioner here. I truly believe he/she is in the minority - and a teeny little minority at that! She's just an example of an ignorant American. Anybody who would bash the Canadians would bash anyone.

Okay, excuse me..
Proud canadian here.
We copy your holidays?
We have the same holidays, similar to many other countries across the world.
We take your jobs because you can't do them right.
We are very independent.
You're just jealous, because you don't have a queen.
And your president is a monkey.

We should be working together with our neighbors instead of fighting with each other. We need canadians as much as they need us. There are more other important things that are debateable.
