Sure hate it for you, took me a lot of bucks to ever catch onto that lesson. My Dad used to say "Never loan money to family or friends", meaning when you "loaned" it to them do not expect it back as you almost always end up dissappointed.
There is not much you can do now, just learn the lesson NOW. It may interest you and/or blow your mind to know that Psychological Studies have been done extensively on this topic, and "70% of poeple who borrow money from another individual have NO intention of ever paying it back", sad but those stats were from like 10 years ago.
Don't lend it unless it is truly extra money, I wouldnt tell them you dont expect it back---and if someone does pay you back, kep that person close as they are probably a rare and hard to find true friend.
Whoever owes you now, just drop it, no revenge ever pays off, why be mad--just makes you miserable, & most of all doing anything but forgiving (not forgetting) at this point will simply lower you to their standards. Given the circumstances, I doubt you want to be on that level, as you must be a nice person, anyway you may be hurt by it but would it make you feel any better to hurt them??.....Probably not, revenge hits you back bad, as two people hurting is far worse than one. Hope it wasn't like your rent money, I loaned mine out a few trimes before learning that lesson. I'd put it in the past after you can quit smoking and figure how to earn it back if it is needed and just say "Cheap lesson well learned".

Never loan money and expect to get it back. And if they do pay you back it is a blessing. and if they don't you know not to loan them money again. Not unless they are very poor and your are blessed with plenty and your could help them. God says to help the poor when in need. and you will be blessed. when we hoard our money and do not give to the needy we are missing out on great blessings. just thank God that you can give. Never loan money to someone for self indulgence.

Unfortunately there's really nothing you can do... I would suggest never loaning the friend money again.

And you can ask about it... if you get laughed off, I wouldn't really consider that person a friend anymore.

Good luck - you're in a tough situation.

Talk to them about it, if they take you as joke take them to court. Next time that happens have everything in writing because you have to know when to seperate business from friendship.
