New at stores is a 2 disc box set of "Godzilla"(Gojira). It includes the original version as well as the U.S. release. One of the all time Japanese animated films, "Spirited Away" should also be easy to find at stores. If you like horror, one of the top movies in this genre, although little known is "Otsuyu" also known as The Haunted Lantern(Japanese, 1997) a title you could get easily, but would have to order.

Japanese horror films are the most common to find and, recently (or recently to me, anyway) a company called "Tartan Video" has been releasing a plethora of them.
If you're into Japanese horror, I suggest going to http://www.mandiapple.com/snowblood/ where you can get a synopsis of films. Most of the ones they've reviewed are already in the States, released by the company I mentioned earlier (I think one of the titles I've never seen out on display has been the Guinea Pig series and, well, that reason goes without saying once you read about them).
For regular films, you'd probably have to do some online hunting.
