can old cell phone be activated as a prepaid w/ new number?

i have a verizon phone that used to be my moms but she bought a new one and gave me her old one cause she didnt want to throw it away is there a way to activate it as a pre paid phone if so which company will do it how much?

Verizon uses CDMA, not GSM, so I don't think you will be able to activate it with Cingular or T-Mobile prepaid. Might be able to activate it with Verizon prepaid though.

'Most phone companies will do it. All you have to really do is pay a fee and take the phone to the companies store you want. Good luck.
