it seems that joy is what we enter upon resolution of inner turmoil. So in that respect, I would say that the elation experienced would be in proportion to the weight of the turmoil. Not necessarily because it is in direct proportion to whatever the haranguing issue might be but more because of the release and relief of pressure, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. If everything is energy, then inner turmoil can only be a form of energy trapped in some internal inquiry that we have not yet resolved. I'm learning that sometimes...the best thing is to just let these things go. I also think the mind creates turmoil to keep us from expressing or experiencing moments of inexplicable joy. The kind of joy that is independent of an external desire fulfilling it.

It is the way we have been raised, as children we are told what to do, this creates inner turmoil, as we all want to do waht we feel like, and as adults we have the same issues and we still try to balance that with joy and inner peace, I just answered a question and brought to mind the Buddist monks in monestarys, being able to close off and live in harmony and be one with nature, not having to resort to the turmoil and joy levels preportionatly.
I never married and live alone, but have alway felt at ease with my life, turmoil has been there, but I have always tried to raise above it to allow myself more joy than it can weigh me down with.

No. I seem to have more turmoil than joy in my life.
Maybe because I desire too much. not material things,I don't care about material things. but the lack of talent or ability. I work hard at everything I do. but never ever get where I want to be.
Suffering is caused by desire.
I should just live a life in which I really don't give a dam and not desire anything.

I think not, Because you generally remember the good times and not the bad. I've always been able to fix my inner turmoil.

Joys are temporary.the pain of inner turmoil is more and lasting as we have come here more for suffering and less for enjoying.

you cannt really want everyone to tell you all their secrets, because that's all inner turmoil really is. most of us live lives of quiet desparation. you cannot expierence joy w/o some pain. cant hae light w/o dark.

for most people, excluding those with imbalances of hormones, we feel much more happyness than not. our prefrontal cortex is able to synthesize happyness regardless of what situation we are in. its this defence mechanism that allows us to keep going day to day. our unhappyness is mostly caused when we let our emotions take over, or when we under-emphasize our future happyness based on our current events/choices, and thus fail to synthesize our own happyness.
