This sounds odd, but Wednesday morning, as my husband was getting out of the shower, he had a huge sneeze, and he felt a pulling in his lower left back, from his hip to his lower buttock.
He says it feels more muscular than spinal.
Does this sound like sciatica nerve, and if so.....what can he do to ease the pain, and how long until he is healed?
He is pretty functional during the day, but getting up is painful. He is 43 years old. Thanks for any info you can give.

I have Sciatica and my symptoms are a numb foot and my calf feels like the muscle is pulled. I had an MRI and its a pinched S1 nerve from a bulging disk. I know someone else who had sciatica from a L5 herniation and nerve pinch and there was buttock and ankle soreness. Usually sciatica goes lower than just the buttocks but not always. My Doc told me that it is possible to injure a disk by sneezing or vomiting if you already have a weakness there. Also, many times its just muscle related and goes away with time. He might want to try massage, or talk to his Doc about getting muscle relaxer and anti-inflammatory meds if he doesn't get better. The next step is an MRI diagnosis if it doesn't respond any in a few weeks. I was told that it usually takes about 6 weeks to heal from a disk problem. Good luck!

I agree with Ortega Chiropractic. The reason why Sciatica is so painful could be because of inflammation on the nerve or a pinch in the nerve Sometimes manipulation of the spine may work to alleviate the pain. But you will need to find out why the nerve is giving you problems before you will get complete relief. I hope this helped you Just me.

Your husband can do deep nerve massage at the top of the sciatic nerve. I have had sciatic pain before, several times. And this always helps.
The top of the sciatic nerve is about 4in. down from the waist and 3-4 inches out from the spine. Poke deeply into the muscle until you find the Most tender spot... It will burn like fire! You will know it when you find it. You need to press on that spot like you are ringing a doorbell. Do it as much as you can stand. Take some deep breaths to help you get through it. I have done this to the point of bruising myself, but I did get relief!
Please try it, and let me know how it goes. It should help you.
