Best place to hide something is right out in the open where no one would think to look.
Worse place is where everyone looks, like under the bed, closet floor, sock drawer, attic, trunk of a car.
Which is why we haven't found Osama. He's driving a cab in New Jersey.

the way you put it...your brother's just like me: i always take note of the positions my objects. It must be somewhere personal, as if it were hidden somewhere commonplace, anyone would have an excuse to move the objects around to get to the prize. One detail you should add to the question is if that object means anything to your other family members. i'm not saying to have your family look out for it. If the object is relatively small, it might be hidden between or behind things, such as a poster. you'll have better luck if the object is bigger. when you look around, especially at containers, try to visualize where your hidden object could fit. now back to the arrangement problem. this will be a lengthy process, sadly. before moving anything that is NOT COMMONPLACE, observe what traces the container/object may have left (dust, marks in the carpet, etc.). Then, you'll need to draw (on a dry-erase thing or etc.) the location of the objects. try to observe if there is a pattern in the way he arranged the objects. good luck. i hate it when ppl hide my stuff.

It varies from house to house, and the setup of funiture and such, so unless this things emits heat and you have heat vision gogles or you have x-ray vision, the chances are slim that you'll find it, but if you look for something that looks out of place or moved from how it should be, even by the slightest bit, you should look there.

So You are look for something.....if it is big then a bread box it is in plain view....if it is small then a bread box then it is in or under something. If it is in one room then it is easy to put things back in place as you go. but whole house forgit. just let your brother give it back to you.

I think the best way to find someting that someone has hid would be to stop and think like the "hidee". If you were him, where would you consider to be safe. Usually works fore me.
