I'm sure Minnesota, North Dakota, Michigan will be white. International Falls, MN is beautiful...you can go ice fishing and enjoy the weather. I can't wait to go back there.

Two places come to mind : The Mount Washington Valley area of NH and Lake Tahoe CA/NV. Of the two it is more likely that Tahoe will have snow for Christmas[ the joys of global warming]
Lake Tahoe is a large and extremely deep lake that sits at about 6200 ' in the high sierra. It is surrounded by mountains and pine forests and is one of the really beautiful places in America.
If you take the time to look up record snow falls/ accumulations in America you will find that Lake tahoe is on all the lists.
A couple of airline tricks you need to know before you go.
It is cheaper to fly out of Fort Lauderdale- FLL than Miami-MIA
And while you can drive from the Reno Nevada Airport -RNO - to South Lake Tahoe in [ depending on weather]under an hour, air fare into Reno is several hundred dollars per person more expensive than it would be if you flew into San Francisco -SFO- 3.5 hours away
A side benefit is on your way back to SFO you can make a detour and visit Yosemite National Park- beyond well worth it
Make sure your rental car has snow stuff in it - snow brushes and chains
Have fun and be careful

I don't know if you enjoy winter sports or not... I think that you might like to go to a city where there are attractions and yet there is nature, too. I think you should go to Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota, because if it's snowing, you will enjoy a white Christmas there. You have many options: shopping at the Mall of America, downtown or uptown, good restaurants, museums, etc. You also can see lots of parks and walk around the lakes that are in the city. There are so many places to go and enjoy winter there, and I suggest you research the cities and decide what you would like to do.

Hope this helps!

Tahoe/Reno area is nice. Also, try New England, Michigan, any central or northern Appalachian area, or any of the other northern tier states as well. They have a better chance at a White Christmas. Do a little digging. There is maps available that show the chance of a White Christmas, and go from there.

Yes, I totally agree with the previous respondent. I live in Texas. But,ever year we will go to this place called Lutsen, Grand Murais. It is by far the most gorgeous and most wonderful place I have been. They get the most snow compared to other cities in Minnesota. While you are at it, why don't stop by in Canada, as it is just 2 hours away from the Canadian Border. Trust me, you and your family will have a time of your life!
Take care and Merry Christmas!
