Dan, I really think Americans currently live in fear. Fear of losing their jobs, fear of their credit score falling, and fear of jail and becoming a part of the 'system'.
At first this sounds like crazy conspiracy theory, but I do not subscribe to conspiracy personally.
I see a war that the people do not support, and no one is marching against it this time (as in Vietnam). I see people being held against their will without charges and no one seems to care (as in Guantanamo Bay). I see employers being allowed to cut the rug out from under the worker (pay, benefits, etc). and yet no one quits or demands unions.
PS, heaven help you if you step up and start to make a stink. I did for racism at my work place and my boss held a meeting and all but laughed in my face. Had to leave that job in the end over the whole matter.
The best thing I can recommend is educate yourself as much as possible (college and more college, current events, local politics). Vote. Support the things that need it, because for the most part they are under funded and under supported.
And pass on the word that we all need to stop coasting, waiting for our 'shift' to end and start living. Participating and making the world a better place.

Hatred is NOT the best catalyst for change...
The revolution has to be a positive, pro-active love dynamic that comes from WITHIN the hearts of men, women, and children - NOT from the issuing of laws from an elite group...
Only God can fix society as a whole and He IS doing such by bringing His kingdom to this world... But, this world is passing away like the Titanic sinking... And there will be a new heaven and a new earth...

Dan, People have tried to change society but Their ideas weren't the greatest, For instance Hitler. There are however some people with good intentions doing good work in Africa, It's hard to find a person or group that has a legitimate plan for the betterment of mankind.

Society is made up of people. Do you really hate all people? No society's perfect. We change what we can. Habitat for Humanity. People who drive the old & infirm to dr appts. People who volunteer in Hospice, soup kitchens. I could go on and on. There are far more good people in the world than bad. We can't change everything but we can do what we can & it all adds up.
You'd be surprised at how many good people make up society. If you check your newspaper for the section requesting volunteers & became one, your outlook on life would improve.

because every single person has a different opinion about what needs to be changed, and since we all can not change when we all do not agree, then thats why we all live in the great US of A!! because we have the right and freedom to have an effed up point of view and not be hung for it.

Honestly I think most of the people in this country are completely comfortable with how horrible our society can be. It just seems like most people hate it because they are the most outspoken. It's sad to think this, and I hope I'm wrong, none the less just a thought. ;-)

How, who and what is going to change it? I think it's gone so far now that it's beyond anyones control. I think a major world war one day will change it but of course no one wants that even if it made things better afterwards.

Look how very long it is taking you to mature... how much longer indeed will it take millions and millions of people to mature... society is still in its infancy... by the way do you have a mouse in your pocket... with the "we" thing?

'Cause people are lazy bums, and complacent, and mostly all stupified in front of the television or video-game console. And they don't read enough.
