Huge as in 8.0? I live in Cal. They say the 100 year "BIG ONE" is past due. I've been in many big quakes. 6.0 and higher. I live 7 miles from the San Andres fault. The biggest on land fault in the world. The only bigger ones are in the ocean. Will we have a big one soon? Nobody knows for sure. I've heard many a psychic predict one. The dates come and go. Here's my answer.
Beats the heck out of me when it will happen.

People have been saying there will be a huge earthquake on the West Coast for close to 40 years. One happened in 1989, another in 1994. Who knows? It's impossible to predict, and just because Japan and Hawaii are having earthquakes does not mean California, Oregon and Washington state will have earthquakes.

Only God know that. They've been predicting the BIG ONE now for more than 3 decades and it hasn't happened yet although there have been several somewhat large ones over the past 20 years or so. The question I would ask would be addressed to the Californians to find out how they feel waiting for their state to be wiped off the map. I personally don't think an earthquake of that magnitude is going to happen but then again I'm not a seismologist and I'm certainly not GOD.

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

One reason is that the west coast of america is component to the hoop of hearth that surrounds the Pacific ocean. yet another excuse that the west coast has many extra earthquakes is because there are 2 tectonic plates rubbing adversarial to at least one yet another down a lot of California (The San Andreas Fault Line). The plates also help to kind volcanoes at the same time as one plate slides over the different, in certain situations turning out to be mountains/ volcanoes. on the east coast, the plates are linked.
