haha well it's painful but......the crowning is the worst part. after that the rest slides right out. and as soon as the baby's delivered you don't even feel pain anymore. but your legs shake your hands shake you cry to hold your baby and ohh sorry i'm reliving mine.....but anyways I didn't think it was as bad as some people make it out to be.

Well, it hurts. Don't try to imagine it before it happens because it's just not worth your time and torturing yourself.

But what they say is true, you do "forget" about how it felt.

You can choose to take the epidural or other pain medication, and it helps a lot.

Focus on getting healthy and strong before the birth. Eat right, do some research on that, and exercise moderately as recommendend by doctors.

Also focus on getting things ready for after your baby is born. What is more trying is the two months after birth, when you can't get any sleep and you're trying to figure out how to take care of your baby. That is much more of a challenge than the actual birth... learning how to be a parent.

It depends. At times on a scale of 1 to 10 it's a 10. Other times it's not so bad. You can get drugs to control the pain. In my opinion the worst is post C-Section recovery. I've had a vaginal birth (with a broken tailbone and a stage 3 epesiotomy) and it was NOTHING compared to the C-Section recovery.

it depends on a lot of things no two births are the same. Some are fast and easy. Some are harder longer. Everyone deals different with pain so it's a VERY individual thing.during labor FOR me it was painful but, mostly only in my back. Pushing in delivery felt like burning and insane pressure i nearly passed out i had a epidural with both my kids!. BUT, it is all over once they are out you feel 10000% better the worst is over as soon as they are out.

I can only tell you about C-sections. The actual birth didn't hurt because of the pain meds, but I was very sore afterwards. I think it depends on your birth choices, but there is always going to be pain involved.

most hospitals offer childbirth classes to answer questions such as yours and fully prepare you for the birth experience. if you eat right and exercise according to your doctor's recommendations, you will have a better chance of having minimal pain during labor.
from my personal experiene, my first delievery was less painful than my periods had been. my second was harder and my third was a breeze. my fourth, and last, was harder again, but the baby was very large. even with that it was far from the worst pain i have ever had and so much more rewarding when it was over! good luck.

Uhm... well... (i feel good about how i handled my c-section now...) I didn't have any pain at all after i had my daughter (via c-section) I didn't even get my prescription for pain killers filled. The thing that hurt the worst was having a bowel movement after I had her. Other than that all was well. I was up and walking around 3 hours after it was finshed. OH and the anisthesa was bad... (vomiting, and it made my face ITCH something awful, I had a spinal)

Get an epidural! Even with that you are still going to feel some pain when you are dilated to 10 and baby is coming out. I have not had a C-section so I don't know about that.

when they gave me pitocin, that's when it hurt.

I had watched those birthing shows on the learning channel, and I've seen plenty of women have natural childbirth with no apparent discomfort. A first time mom who was 19, didn't change her facial expressions when she was in labor, and when she was done, she said, "I thought labor was supposed to hurt."

It all depends and what discomfort you do go through is forgotten after you have your little bundle in your arms. I've had four kids all were natural, first one I had drugs. After that I didn't have any drugs. Keep yourself healthy and walk a lot and listen to your Doctor and take your vitamins
