Ok, so I think I have a yeast infection, and I want to go see a gynecologist, the problem is that I don't know how to tell my mom. I know that she's going to say that it's going to clear on it's own and that it was my own fault for not keeping clean.

It has nothing do do with being clean, yeast grows from inside. Are you even sure it's a yeast infection? Have you ever had one diagnosed before? Tell her that you are having a problem and you need to talk to a specialist for it to make sure it gets diagnosed correctly. Good luck

Yeast infections have absolutely NOTHING to do with hygiene. I had several stubborn infections over a 5 year period and was extremely careful about my hygiene. Also, the infection will not go away on it's own. You need to go to a gynecologist and have an exam so that they can determine what kind of yeast you have and give you the appropriate medication. Usually a vaginal cream or insert. Also try to eat yogurt on a daily basis, there are natural organisms in yogurt that help keep your body chemistry balanced. If you can't stand the taste of yogurt, go to a health food store and purchase acidolphulus (sp?) pills. The best ones are the ones that are kept in the fridge, they stay the freshest and have the most live organisms.

A yeast infection generally causes a lot of discomfort down below, and it's really itchy. There's also a thick white discharge. If these things are happening, it's a yeast infection. You can get a treatment for that over the counter without your mother knowing (it's between $20 and $30) but I would recommend telling her. It def. won't clear up on its own, it will most likely just get worse or cause a second infection.

Don't tell her that you think you have an infection, just say you think it's time for your annual gynecologist appt and you want to go. Make up an excuse about your health teacher saying you should go or something. Also, if you really don't want a doc looking down there you can get otc cream at almost any store. Yogurt helps too, weird as this may sound. It's got "good" bacteria that will help the infection clear up and prevent it from happening again.

Women get yeast infections even if they wash everyday, it's nothing uncommon. I'm sure she wont just say "oh it was clear up on it's own" but if so then all you need to do is go to the drugstore and buy some Monistat 3 day Vaginal Yeast Infection Cream and it should clear it right up.

Lovable Laura, you buy some over the counter medicines to help cure a yeast infection IF it is on the outside.

IF it is deep, then you need to see ANY medical doctor to have it taken care of. He/she can write you a prescription that will knock it out.

Have you been taking any antibiotics? They WILL cause yeast infections in men and women. They kill the "good" bacteria in your system and the yeast takes off. Drink lots of buttermilk (whether you like it or not). It will help to put "good" bacteria back in your system that the antibiotics killed.

I think your mom needs to do some reading on yeast infections. Sometimes they just happen....for no reason. AND...it will NOT just go away!! Good luck. Pops (No, I'm not a woman but have been married a very long time)

Hey sweetie,
Having a yeast infection does not come from not keeping clean. A yeast infection can come from all sorts of things like color underwear that's why if you wear color undies you should wear a pantyliner in the middle of the undies, certain soaps, I recommend (Dove), Tissues espically the color ones, tight jeans, and sometime certain foods. Eating things like yogart which contains (Live Active Culture) is what prevents a yeast infection.

you do not get a yeast infection from being dirty! dont worry! first off... is the discharge like cottage cheese and are you itchy? if so...its probably a yeast infection.

you dont need to tell your mom if you dont want to. Grocery stores and drug stores sell something called "monistat" or the drugstore brand. they are sold by the tampons and they are little pill type things that are inserted in like a tampon and dissolve over night.. some take 3 days but the problem is usually cured after! they can be expensive at about 15 dollars or so....

good luck

nonsense, yeast infections affect everyone,
it has nothing to do with 'hygiene' after
showering, you should wipe yoursefl dry
very well, bacteria thrives in wet places, also
if you like to swim, remove your bathing suit
asap so again, bacteria won't thrive, and most
important, sometimes yesties can be a sign of
'diabetes' left untreated, they can be very un-
pleasant.

well hun the only way to clear that up is to shower dailey and keep good high jeans up.. for women its better if you shower because you cant get soap or anything in side of you... and there is madication out on shelfts like wal-mart or any drug stores the best kind i would get is the viginal one that is a cream that will help clear up in a day, and if you dont wanna tell your mom and some girls like keeping things to them self then i would get some money and get a ride to the store and then you will have it from then on out.

thanks and good luck!

melissa :)
