The 1st three numbers are state identifiers, the other numbers mean something too but i forget what, you can look it up online tho.

I remember when I got mine they told me that they were based on your date of birth, and your state as well. And no the race has nothing to do with it what so ever. Go to www.SocialSecurity.gov and ask.

The first three numbers are based on your state. The next ones go by county, and basically in order from there.

it is based on many many factors and a code created by the US government it is based on your time of birth where you were born the hospital in which you were born (im not sure on that one) your gender and many factors i am not sure on (i dont want to mislead you)

um, I kinda think so, because ss#'s from
back East can start with a 'zero' I was told
that when I moved west.
