I'm not so sure on what you're asking, but I think most people want to know about their culture, race, ancestry, etc. because they want to know where they come from. They want a "sense of belonging" if you will; what and who they can connect to. You can read and learn about other cultures and find it just as interesting, but for them, you can't relate or associate with it, I suppose. Or, maybe they are looking for something to be proud of; like being able to say, " I'm a descendant of great people who invented this, conquered that, journeyed here," etc. I can't remember who the person was that said this, but I think this quote explains a lot too:
"A people without knowledge of their history is like a tree without roots."
I don't even remember if those are the exact words, but anyhow, the quote is basically saying that a race or even nationality without knowledge of their people cannot grow as people; hence, "a tree without roots" it ain't gonna grow none!
I hope that my answer has helped you understand this perspective a bit more ;-)

The only reason why anyone wants to know their culture is an elitist issue that until we get rid of, racism is not going to die.
You shouldn't care about your history, what bearing does it have on you? If I came from white upper class slave owners I don't care, because it has no bearing on me today. I am my own person with my own beliefs and values. Until you erase the lines of secularism, you will forever have prejudice.
Racism works both ways.

because of the fact we've set it up so as that each and every physique would be racist in the direction of white human beings because of the fact we you're able to be extra honest than we've been in the previous, whilst whites held a large variety of the skill. confident I consider you, racism is hurtful whoever it particularly is directed at and it particularly is going to be dealt with as an offence whoever is doing it. the entire element is that it particularly is arbitrary and hurtful, so subsequently no-you are able to still do it. all each and every physique is racist, black and white and each coloration in between. human beings use any skill they could get their very own way consisting of pulling the race card each and every time they get the possibility.
