For Final Fantasy the name Cid is a trademark. Cid has been in almost every final fantasy but he's never the same person and always has to do something with airships. It's just like how they reuse all of the summons. And they don't really reuse names it's mainly just cid. umm there's also biggs and wedge, they've been in almost every game but never the same people. that's all I can think of at the moment hope it helped!^-^

Cid has had a place in Final Fantasy ever since Final Fantasy II. Usually he is associated with airships:

(off the top of my head...)
FFIV: Airship captain, party member
FFVII: Cid Highwind, Airship pilot. Member of party
FFVIII: Head of Ballamb garden
FFX: Yuna's Uncle, Rikku's dad
FFX-2: Yuna's uncle, Rikku's dad

the first answer is an excellent answer - you should award her the status of best answer
-----
summons, magi, GFs, eidolons, aeons... they are not necessarily reused - they are the same entities in each game

same with many of the enemies that re-occur

imps/goblins, malboros, sahagins, bombs/balloons.. many MANY enemies occur throughout the final fantasy franchise
-------
cid is in every final fantasy game, except I - the only one that i am not sure of is if he shows up in II. although he usually is connected to airships, in both tactics and tactics advance, cid was a playable character that was overpowered
