Is it possible to be accepted to an ivy league school with a 3.88? It is possible, but the probability of you being accepted might not be very high. Students that are #1 in their high school class have been denied from Ivy League schools... keep this in mind. Students with 4.0 GPAs have been denied.
When college admissions representatives make decisions on admittance to a university, they look at everything. We not only look at GPA, but look at test scores, activities, personal statements, and recommendations. Most schools look at the entire individual.
I do not want to discourage you from applying to an Ivy League School, but keep your options open and apply to non-ivy league schools as well. Many of the ivy league school's acceptance rates are around 9%, which means that 9% of those that apply get in and the rest are denied. Apply if it is your dream, but be realistic and apply to other schools as well.

It's definitely possible. I know someone who got in with a 3.8. It's not all about the GPA. They look at other things as well: sports, clubs, community service, SAT reasoning, SAT subject tests, ACT, AP scores if you're taking AP classes, IB scores if you're taking IB classes. Your application essay is pretty important too. But if you don't have a perfect GPA, you should at least be well-rounded in your activities and be exceptionally good in one or two of them. Honors/AP/IB classes would be a good idea s well.

GPA is only one thing they look at. They're really looking for well rounded candidates that have something to add to their school. FYI it's Ivy, not iv.

Ummm, I think you need to worry a little more about your grammar and spelling before you think about an ivy league school.
