Not for a while, maybe when they stop making or when the PS4 comes out..
Sony already loses 200-300+ USD on every PS3 they sell due to the powerful hardware..
Why would they want to lose more money? If they decrease the price for the PS3 they'll have to increase the price on their games and other products to make up for that money.. Sony already calculated how much games will an average gamer will buy to make up for such profits..

Never. I remember back in the 80's when the first Nintendo system was $200 and all of the games were $50 (which was somewhat high according to the video game standards a the time). As time went on, the competitors started dropping their prices but Nintendo never followed suit. All the way up until the mid 90's before they discontinued it, the price remained at $200. I think in the last 4 to 6 months, the price dropped to $49.99.

defiantly not for a while it takes along time for consoles price to drop
my guess is that there will be a $50 price cut by summer 07. Yeah i know it sucks but until blue-ray becomes more popular with the general public the price will stay really expensive for the general public

For a major price drop I would say about 3-4 years.

dont get the ps3 yet wait a little later because people are stabbing and shooting each other 4 that thing but he price will go down probaly after christmas

Not for about 1-2 years.
The PS2 has just begun to go down, and even with the PS3 out it hasn't gone down in price.
Either save up for it or don't get one.

The prices r falling by the min. on EBAY. I seen a 60gb 4 $500 no reserve, with 5mins. left.

next xmas after sony makes all the money they lost designing it back.until then the price will remain massive. once all depts are payed off they will begin making an immense profit and massive sales decreasing the required price in order for them to maintain themselves.
