i watched fast food nation the other day and there was a scene where cows got killed in a slaughterhouse. are the cows that got killed (not the cows that are already head hanging from the ceiling) real cows or what? please explain to me if they actually did kill a real cow to film that scene.

If they were at a slaughterhouse then YES they killed a cow. Thats what they do at slaughterhouses. That's the business they are in. Cows must be killed before they are cut up and eaten.
