I'm 33 years of age and can't manage to get about $10-$12/hr out in Los Angeles. I can't take this anymore. I need to make some decent money... at least $35k/yr. I've been stuck in Audio Post vaults forever... I'm willing to dump Post Production for a decent wage.

I don't live in your area, but I would suggest that you go through an employment agency to find work that pays better. I would imagine that a lot of it depends on education and experience -- just like everywhere else.

Sell your self in interviews even if you don't have a degree. You will get a better chance at any job that pays more if you try to get the interview. Don't lie just stress that you are a fast learner and willing to learn what it takes to improve the position in which the company is trying to fill.

Have you ever thought about starting your own company?
Cleaning company
Courier company
Limousine company
Small to Medium size store
Small to Medium size restuarant
Always remember keep your self insured and you take a few business management classes at your local community college or continuing adult education center and you can run your own small business.

Good Luck!

Underpayment's felt all over the US. So you are not alone but you can do something about it.

Electrical Engineers start at that salary. My roommate just started his job for that, but you would need a bachelor of science in engineering to work.

Nursing....You are lucky to get that much. I know people who work for $8 hour or less. Where I come from jobs are scarce (Indiana) so you really are lucky.
