A hammer? Chisle? Im not sure of anything that will take the finish off professinally installed electromagnetic dipped treated chrome. And as far as eating threw? I know heat will turn the color of chrome to its chalky, darkened color yet it excellent to disperse heat threw a header and keep the heat in. If you find something, you let me know....I too would like to know.

Chrome is a chemical process, if you want to remove the plating then you need to take the part to a plating shop and have it chemically unbonded with the metal. Acid alone will not do the trick plus the stuff burns the skin.

acid will ,,it will eat right through it ,and once that happens rust process takes over,but about any good acid will eat through it,,good luck.

try some acid it will work.
