It's been a while since I read up on this, but copyright law does allow for a "fair use" clause -- where if your production is a parody, or is for educational purposes, you should be ok.

Another thing is to contact the copyright holder and ask for permission. I've done this several times in the past and to my surprise I've received said permission.

Possibly.... the script and any work that it was based on are also copyrighted.... if you charge or not may not be a factor... A web site was recently sued for publishing guitar chords of popular songs, even tho they were doing it for free. It is unlikely that anyone would notice if it is a small church and the show isn't taken on the road. Your best bet is to get advice from a lawyer... you should be able to find one that will do if pro bono(sp)

The owner of copyright has the exclusive rights to do and to authorize to prepare derivative works based upon the copyrighted work.

So technically, your derivative work, whether or not money is collected, would be a violation of copyright.

However, I doubt that anyone would go after you.

There may be, but it shouldn't ruffle anyone's feathers. Check out the 'Fair Use' clause of the copyright laws online.

i don't think so.

i don't condone copyright infringement but, these Hollywood types are billionaires, and need to be happy with what they got.

if you are sued, it'll throw my whole perception of reality into question.
