How can these processes be compared? They are sooo different from each other, but yes, you are right - both events would be incredible to observe.

I think, though, that the interest in the neutron star would become boring after a while (unless it was degenerating into a black hole or some other cosmological event was happening.

Collision of 'stars' produce amazing colors and light.
I m not sure if Neutron Stars fuse up the same way coz most of would just suck other stars towards their dense core/surface.]

So, I would b fine with watching stars rather than neutron-stars
