Just bought a cool '02 Civic SI, but it was smoked in. A lot apparently as it reeks. ARRRRGGGHH. I don't want to just cover it up with wild cherry or bubble gum scent. Then it just smells like smoke skank and wild cherrys. Anybody found a way to really eliminate the smell? Hunter B.

My best bet is to steam clean the interior (seats, carpet, roof) and use a lot of coffee beans to absorb the odors. With time it may remove all the odor.

Arm and Hammer just brought out a product that you hang in the fridge to absorb odors. It's filled with baking soda. Try hanging one or two of these in the car. You can find them at the grocery store with the air fresheners for the home. Also try sprinkling baking soda on the carpet and upholstery. Let it sit overnight and then vacuum. I have found anything that works like baking soda and it's dirt cheap.

Well i actually know of 2 different ways to get that smell out. One way is by spraying fabreeze on the seats if they are cloth seats. They have a special kind for car interiors. They also have a fabreeze that is for carpeting. it has a clean fresh smell and it actually takes any other smell away. The other way is putting strong smelling dryer sheets under each of the seats.

Steam clean the interior, wash windows and hard panels, then do the charcoal treatment.

(*We have had very good luck with Charcoal.)

Buy about 40 lbs and put it in thin panty hose stockings and socks scattered around the passenger compartment.

turn on the heater, air conditioner and drive with the windows open.

leave charcoal in and windows open over night.

Takes about a week. Two weeks for tough ones.
