It certainly isn't the merchandising mayem foisted on the public in the name of good cheer. Christmas is about being with family, sharing with friends, and celebrating peace on earth, good will to man. And that has nothing to do with rushing out and spending money.

The literal meaning is Christ's Mass. That being a mass to celebrate the birth of The Saviour. The actual twelve days of Christmas were originally days of pagan celebration that were taken over by Christianity. As was already noted December 25th is the date when the winter solstice is celebrated [the day with the least sunlight].

I'm thinking that you mean the real meaning to each of us, not the literal meaning.
During Christmas everyone is happy no matter what. Christmas means something to everyone, whether their religious or not. Without Christmas this world would be a much worse place.

I think the true meaning of Christmas is celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ and enjoying the time with your family. Its not about presents or showing off how many lights you have on your house. Its about being together.

The real meaning of Christmast is to celebrate the LORD'S only son. Another meaning is to give not to receive because the LORD said,The real art of Christmas is to give not to recive,it won't hurt you to receive but, you will get more blessings if you give. That is my meaning for Christmas. If you want to learn more e-mail me at:cooltyme45@yahoo.com
