You, sir, have no idea what you are talking about. Look at all the money being thrown around this offseason. Boston pays $51 million for a pitcher who has never pitched in the U.S., the Cubs give Soriano $136 million for 8 years, and the Astros sign Carlos Lee for $100 million. The Yankees are NOT the ones throwing money around, and in fact, unloaded a lot of it when they got rid of Sheffield.
As long as your are talking about the Yankees payroll, why don't you mention they pay the most in revenue sharing and luxury tax? That's money that goes to other teams, that is supposed to help them. Why don't you mention all the facts and not just your viersion of them?
You seem to think Steinbrenner is still running the team, but he's 76, in poor health, and is not the same guy he was. With Cashman in charge now, you will see a better, cheaper team.

I am a yankees fan but an objective one, if that is possible in sports these days....I do think the yanks spend a lot of money and I think they were criticized for it because they really started the gross spending in baseball, but it also looks like it is a new trend in baseball.....51.1 million just to talk contracts with a 26 year old pitcher who could wind up like Liriano-great but completely banged up? I am afraid this kid will blow out his arm from trying to carry the red sox...if beckett doesn't improve he will be their ace with no support. Also, 136 million for Soriano to go to the Cubs is a lot of money too. I don't know if he should receive that much cash just like I don't believe Alex Rodriguez deserves that much cash for 10 years. Soriano in Wrigley field with a non-padded outfield playing a position that is still fairly new to him?? Kinda risky defensively....The bottom line is this, in my opinion, the Yanks started the spending trend and won a lot of pennants in the past but it seems to me that more teams are starting to post the big bucks because they are tired of being out of the hunt....(the Red Sox will never be the same because of 2004 because they now expect victory whereas it was fun to watch the so-called idiots prior to the WS. 2004 was the best and worst thing to happen to Boston.) I am happy that the yanks didn't shell out what will amount to roughly 100 million dollars for a pitcher who may or may not be great (too much of a risk for my taste). They are building their pitching and that is the only thing keeping them from the series. If the Yanks had pitching they would be the AL champs, not the Tigers.

Why don't you come up with something more original? Why don't you worry about your own inept team that wishes it had half the success the Yankees have. Instead of taking shots at the Yankees you should be taking shots at the ownership of your own second rate team. Can your team claim 10 division titles, 6 American League Pennants and 4 World Series Championships the past 11 seasons? Hell no!! You should be writing to whatever crap team you root for and ask the owners what their plan is for success. Hell man, I'm a Phillies fan and I understand the big picture. What's your freakin' problem?

i think of it somewhat is greater advantageous than the money spent, Steinbrenner feels t hat they could continuously win and that i think of that he has felt for the previous few years that Torre has lost the tema along with his message. That being pronounced i think of it does come back to the architects of the gang besides. the only reason that Cashman isn't on the block is that once he wanted to bypass away to run a team his way George advised him to do it with the yankees, it somewhat is while they began arising expertise as a substitute of spending for Kevin Brown previous his best. formerly that each and each flow went for the period of the Boss and now he's construction from interior of...yet they nonetheless anticipate to win. it may be unrealistic whether this is the demands of George. i think of he in basic terms has himself to blame for putting mutually a team of gifted yet not on the comparable internet site gamers. Johnny Damon may be the final super money throw away for them for a mutually as, they could nonetheless make the A-Rod deal prevalent of the week and so could the different Gm, proprietor in that postion. they'll nonetheless bypass after the final ptiching availabel to fill holes yet a mojority of their team would be made out of abode grown expertise till George fires Cashman in 2 years. Cashman has been on record asserting that he did not help the celeb stream that introduced each and all the boys in on the grounds that they began not triumphing the Championships!

He needs to spend less money. Call me crazy but i honestly believe that a player on the Yankees making as much money as they do does not care as much any more. They have all the money they will ever need and not a care in the world. Stienbrenner should do things the old way and watch his team do well. You have to develop younger players with a desire to play and win.

The absolute minimum
Then almost every other team will fold due to the lack of money for their own payrolls.... after all, the Yankees portion of revenue sharing pays most payrolls for most other teams

the answer to that question is less..... the old saying goes there is no i in team....the yankees baseball team consists of many i's...in order to make the yankees win....i think if he brought in younger ball players and kept a few....they would adapt to the pressure of new york and help win 25 more championships
