Is this a trick question? If you've never experienced sadness, you are considered truly lucky by many people. However, I am not one of them...

Sadness can be caused when you experience a loss, as in the death of a loved one, or even a breakup.

But it can also be caused if you don't have a good perspective on life, and the experiences that it brings in order to grow and progress.

Think about it, if you didn't have rainy days, would you appreciate the sunny ones?

Good luck, and if you are experiencing sadness, I hope it allows you to grow and progress, and become a better person for it! I hope it also allows you to change your perspective, and appreciate all of the little things that life has to offer you!

While there are certainly biological reasons for sadness that can stem from imbalances, often sadness comes from broken expectations. Are your expectations to high?
