It should always be a woman's own right to choose to give birth or not. It's wrong for people to treat sex like it's just for having children, because it's not. LOTS of women enjoy intercourse and they DON'T want to be pregnant. Birth controls fail and it's unfair to force women into an unwanted pregnancy and adoption and punish her because she just wanted to enjoy her sex life. For some women, it's dangerous for them to become pregnant. And as for rape victims - rape cannot always be proven, and there'd be red tape and hoops to jump through before getting PERMISSION for the abortion! Seriously - if laws against abortion were slapped on women everywhere, it would open the door to putting other laws and restrictions on women's rights. It certainly could happen. It's men trying to control us - they get VIAGRA on the market to boost their sex drive, while the women are forced into helping over-populate the country, or told to 'keep their legs closed'. How IGNORANT! Take a look at Africa - the religious groups give those over-breeders everything but birth controls! Think about it.

Here's a topic for the masses, huh? I've had an abortion, so, yes, I support them. Now, at the time I was in school and had no means of supporting myself and a baby. I wasn't in a solid relationship, even though we were still together. Abortions are safe procedures done every day. However, they do leave emotion scars. If done improperly, they can leave physical ones, too. I didn't know the sex of my child, but I knew the due date. For the first year or two, I would be sad on THAT day. It was my own little hell. But I don't regret my decision. I did what I thought was best for me. Putting a child in the system is an uncertain. And I, surely, didn't ever want to think about abusing my child because I resented the child.
Abortion is something that must be carefully thought through and is NOT for everyone.

i'm not for abortions..but I think that some of these woman that do get them are trying to cover up cheating..i see that way too much in our area..but, if a woman should get preg. by getting raped then it would be a good idea..even a young girl..if they did some kind of test and showed that the child was going to need medical attention for the rest of their lives and would never ever live a normal life and they are 100% sure, then why bring a child into this world that would be in so much pain? but for someone to just have an abortion just because isn't right..there are alot of ppl out there that can't have kids and would make a great parent, and alot of ppl that are out there that have lots of kids and can't even support them or want them..and the ones that don't want kids are the ones that also have abortions..well damn, there are ways to prevent them.. so i'm not for abortions

I think that having an abortion should be the choice of the woman who is pregnant, and the government (and everyone else) should stay out of it. I think that safe clinics need to be available to women seeking abortions, because otherwise (if they were banned) women would just resort to the dangers of back-alley abortions, which could lead to infection and even death. Women deserve better, and we deserve to be respected for the choices me make.
Nobody has an abortion as a lazy "method of birth control." They're invasive, painful, expensive, and emotionally upsetting.

Should be mandatory for some people. (like drug abusers, pedophiles, and other morons who didn't see the DO NOT REPRODUCE advice printed on their own birth certificate.) I'm half kidding there. Seriously, it should NEVER be used as a form of birth control (you wanna play, you gotta pay!), but is a real choice - some women can not or should not carry a baby to term. (Sometimes for their own physical health - like for a woman with a weakened body due to genetics or illness, sometimes for their emotional or mental health - like in the case of a rape or incest.) Accidents do happen - birth control does fail, and sometimes, circumstances don't warrant a pregnancy.

I would hate to ever be in a position to make a decision like that. Lucky for me, I haven't.
I think it would be better to have one if you were raped or the baby would be deformed and ONLY if the abortion was done early.

I would not want anyone making that choice for me and I would not want to make it for anyone else. Neither should governments. These right to life people care about the fetus right up to the time its born but try getting school childrens service levys passed they vote against them every time.

Abortion is killing. It is a crime but no one is being penalized. It is a life that deserves a chance at life. The very life that you take could be a doctor or a lawyer that you abort.
