Kroeger was born in 1974, growing up idolizing guitar bands and dreaming of starting his own. Started in Hanna, Alberta, Nickelback moved to Vancouver and began to make a name for themselves with releases that hit it big in Canada. Breaking into the American rock scene around the turn of the century, the band had a massive hit with "How You Remind Me," making Kroeger a recognizable figure in the alternative rock world. In 2002, a bleak duet with Saliva singer Josey Scott became a surprisingly large hit based on its appearance in the Spider Man movie
