Prussia was the largest state in Germany. What was East Prussia now lies in Poland and Russia but West Prussia is still part of Germany. The second world war started when Hitler tried to connect East Prussia with Germany by a corridor through Poland.

Prussia developed as a German state in the Middle Ages. Without any outside research I can tell you that Prussian refers to the dominant state in North Germany prior to the 1871 unification. It's capital was Berlin. West Prussia and East Prussia after the unification were territories on the border with Russia. I'm pretty sure that Prussia was only one country through most of it's history.

With the end of the Hohenzollern monarchy in Germany following World War I, Prussia became part of the Weimar Republic in 1919. Prussia as a state was abolished de facto by the Nazis in 1934 and de jure by the Allied Powers in 1945.
Since then, the term's relevance has been limited to historical, geographical, or cultural usages. Even today, a certain kind of ethic is called "Prussian virtues", for instance: perfect organization, sacrifice, rule of law, obedience to authority and militarism, but also reliability, tolerance, thriftiness, modesty, and diligence. Many Prussians believed that these virtues were part of the reasons for the rise of their country.

Prussia refers to germany.
The Kingdom of Prussia (German: Königreich Preußen) was a kingdom from 1701 to 1918 and, from 1871, was the leading state of the German Empire, comprising almost two-thirds of the area of the Empire.
[edit] 1701: The growth of Brandenburg
Frederick William, the "Great Elector" of Brandenburg-Prussia, died in 1688. His possessions passed to his son Frederick III (1688-1701) who became King Frederick I of Prussia (1701-1713). With the exception of Ducal Prussia, all of Brandenburg's lands were a part of the Holy Roman Empire, by this time under the all but hereditary nominal rule of the House of Habsburg. Since there was only one King of the Germans within the
Empire, Frederick gained the assent of Emperor Leopold I (in return for alliance against France in the War of the Spanish Succession) to his adoption (January 1701) of the title of "King in Prussia" based on his non-Imperial territories. The title came into general acceptance with the Treaty of Utrecht (1713).

i'm afraid Prussia sounds in basic terms in basic terms a sprint awkward as a nickname. i think the nickname Eric is very well-known on the 2d. Or certainly, Irving has that categorical high quality to it. Did I point out Bruce? Voted superb nickname in 1935.

I could answer most of that, but this should do better for you. Basically, Prussia united was the European power after Napoleon. It was the eventual Bismarck Germany.
Wikipedia is far better at answering than anyone, though.
