boustrophedon
Pronounced boost'-ro-fee-dun, this word refers to a type of ancient writing. People would write from left to right until they got to the edge of the material, and then they would turn right around on the next line and write from right to left. If I'm not mistaken, the word literally means "the way the ox plows," which is the manner in which the people would write. The adjective form of the word is really fun--boustrophedonic. Yeah, it's completely pointless, but I'm a language arts major.
