if you're looking for gothic go with some good vampire stories or movies, old ones are better since they tend to have more of a fantasy spells and magic twist to it. Vampires are on the gothic side and may help you get a better feel for it. Or go for some Occult movies since the ones made usually aren't exactly preppy.
If you want dark stories, read some Edgar Allan Poe, but those aren't fairytales, but i consider them dark and gothic since they are old. Is this a modern fairy tale or an old one like from way back when our parents weren't born? That'd help me a lot more

For the goths:
Once upon a time, dear children of the night, there was a lovely rose garden (romantically neglected, of course), where a raven-haired princess awaited (something a princess awaits. Remember, you're dealing with an older crowd. Maybe she's waiting for GoodGoth.com to have a sale. Maybe she's waiting for the new Bauhaus album. I don't know), and her only companion was a smart-alecky crow named (something Latin). You can take it from there, but keep it ironic and tongue-in-cheek. ;)
