i am scheduled for a tubal ligation on 11/29. my fertile days may be anywhere from the 23rd til then. if i would conceive NOW, would it show up on the test? if not, would the procedure itself cause the embryo to abort?

I had my tubal. The kind I had was my tubes were burnt. Afterwards I asked my dr. about if the procedure would cause the embryo to self abort and he said unfortunatly no. It is possible to carry the baby if I conceived that close to the procedure.

No! Tubal ligation is the tieing of the fallan tubes so that the egg doesnot come down. But taking a test on 23 -29 , It could show up on the test. But if you want a child why are you going for a Tubal Ligation .
Tubal Ligation for Females
What is Tubal Ligation?
Tubal ligation, commonly knows as “getting your tubes tied,” is a surgical sterilization technique for women. This procedure closes the fallopian tubes, and stops the egg from traveling to the uterus from the ovary. It also prevents sperm from reaching the fallopian tube to fertilize an egg. In a tubal ligation, fallopian tubes are cut, burned, or blocked with rings, bands or clips. The surgery is effective immediately. Tubal ligations are 99.5% effective as birth control. They do not protect against sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS. Ask a Fertility Expert

Chemical pregnancy with tubes tied
11/15/2006 7:27 PM
I am a 29 year old who tubes has been tied for 8 years and this past Sept 2006 I had a positive pregnancy test. I was 10 days late for AF and then she finally came well she lasted 3 days which was very unusual and then it completely stopped. I was having big clots which I really didn't pay attention to because my tubes have the Falope ring. Well a day later I woke up Nauseous and my DH helped me to the bathroom and I couldn't understand what was happening so later on that night I was talking to my sister which I was still nauseous off and on she told me to take a HPT and she brought me one over. OK, I took it not knowing what the results would come out to be 2 lines one faint so I immediately got excited and nervous at the same time. I got to work and I work at a Dr's office I showed the test to a Dr who suggested that I take another one there so I did and it was Neg which hurted but anyway she explained to me that I more than likely had a "chemical pregnancy" so I was pregnant with a tubal ligation so I wonder if I can still get pregnant? Is that possible? I going to see if my tubes are still with the ring. Please I need help on this one can I still get pregnant?

Although your excitement is understandable, it is important that your tubes are tested to see whether one or both are open, or whether a fistula (pinpoint opening) may have developed in one of them. A pregnancy after a tubal ligation could actually occur inside of the tube (ectopic or tubal pregnancy) which can become a life threatening situation.

Pregnancy in women who have only one tube is entirely possible. With a prior ectopic pregnancy the chances for a repeat ectopic are somewhat increased and you should consult your doctor as soon as you conceive next time.

Usually you are given a pregnancy test BEFORE the procedure. You will then be asked what you want to do (either go full term or abort) and then you can decide to have your tubal done after either of your choices.

If you were pregnant (IE the egg had implanted) and it didn't show up on the test and they preformed a tubal you *may* abort from the stress or you may not (same as any surgery while pregnant).
Depending on the anesthetic there could be a risk of birth defect BUT it is basically non-existent because the baby would not be sharing your blood yet.

It's possible. Unless you had the lining of your uterus burned as well it's not a gaurentee though. Also- a tubal ligation is only about 95% effective (or so says the IUD company.. but I'm sure they are biased)

Enjoying the feeling of motherhood and raising a family would surely be a couple’s dream. Some get it naturally, while for some others things don’t seem to work as they desire. These reasons which stop a women from conceiving can be due to either physical reasons or truly physiological.

It depends on which test the doc uses to test for pregnancy whether it would show up or not. However the procedure will cause termination, unless a miracle happens.

A tuba ligation is a procedure that ends a pregnancy. But it is a pregnancy that has to be terminated, because it is in the tube, and will burst.
