I thought I was in love once but I think I was wrong. What I felt was like a nauseating anxiety inducing fusion of lust and jealousy. Or is that what being in love is supposed to feel like?

Your problem is not uncommon in modern society. That is because we think love is a feeling, when in fact it is not. Love is a verb, it is what you do. Love is not self-centered in nature and therefore is unconnected to ones own "feelings". Love is self-denying, sacrificial and "other" centered. What most people think is love, is nothing more than infatuation/lust. That is why when the "feeling" goes away, as it inevitably must, they don't understand what happened.

Sounds like you were in love. Love could well be described as the fusion of lust and jealousy.

Helen Fisher, an Anthropologist who did a study where she took 32 people who were in love and ran them through a MRI to try and discern what love is, concludes that it is a drive, not an emotion. It activates that part of your brain that wants something, like when you reach for a tasty morsel of food or when you desire to achieve a goal. It elevates dopamine levels when the object of your love is thought about - which when in love is all the time - the same part coincidentally of the brain that is activated when the rush of cocaine hits.

Love can be considered the second in a series of brain systems that help humankind procreate. The first is sexual drive, or lust, which causes a person to strongly want to connect with another person. The second, romantic love, focuses this lust on one particular person. The third phase would be attachment, where you feel empty without the person of your affection, and comfortable when they are around.

A major characteristic of love is that it causes you to focus intensely on the object of your affection. You focus your energy on them and begin to obsess over that person. It becomes difficult to focus on anything else. One become extremely jealous and sexually possessive of that person. One feels as if they would die for that person. If the love is unrequited, this can be quite painful. Check out Shakespeare or any other poet, writer, artist or creative worth their salt.

In a nutshell, love is a very strong human brain system.

May be a thing, where words wonder how to describe ... may be something that can be experienced ... may be glimpses of love, the feeling of Oneness is experienced momentarily in nauseating anxiety inducing fusion of lust and jealousy, even hate probably an another aspect of love ... probably something other than pure indifference .... may be that's ther in the feeling of a current, shock, a free fall, floating ... may be love is and beyond all these descriptions ... probably love is THAT .... going beyond the boundaries of individual ego ...

Love is a profound feeling of tender affection, or intense attraction. People in love are often considered to have "good" interpersonal chemistry.[1] Love is described as a deep, ineffable feeling shared in passionate or intimate interpersonal relationships. In different contexts, however, the word love has a variety of related but distinct meanings: in addition to romantic love, which is characterized by a mix of emotional and sexual desire, other forms include platonic love, religious love, familial love, true love, and the more casual application of the term to anyone or anything that one considers strongly pleasurable, enjoyable, or desirable, including activities and foods. This diverse range of meanings in a single word is commonly contrasted with the plurality of Greek words for Love, reflecting the word's versatility and complexity.

well love some times can be felt as lust and some times it just feels like everything its on your side but love its a feeling that its interpretated in different ways in everyone so if you think that it is/was just lust because the other person isnt in love like you are thats not love.

love its everything but without lust
