Lots of people show the real spirit of Christmas. You won't see it on advertising, however, so don't expect to and don't be disillusioned when you don't. Advertising is designed to make us dissatisfied with life as it is, so we'll go out and buy things to try to fix it.

A few years ago, a TV station did a report on the Christmas spirit at a local mall. They put a ton of packages in the trunk of a car and left the trunk open on purpose. Then the news crew concealed themselves and watched, filming. What they found was that only one person all day tried to take the packages. (Someone from the news crew conveniently returned to the car before anything was taken.) Everyone else either ignored it or tried to help. Many people simply shut the trunk. A few went back inside the mall to have the car's owner paged. A couple of people even left one member of their party guarding the open trunk while another person went inside to have the car's owner paged. They then reported the results on the evening news. It was one of the nicest news stories I've ever heard.

Keep your eyes open for the good things, and be sure you spread the Christamas spirit in the best way you know how. For my part, I wear christmas clothing & jewelry and a sincere smile. I also try to be helpful when that's called for.

We invite His Presence before we open the presents. We read the story of the birth of Jesus from the gospel of Luke first thing on Christmas morning. All the rest, the shopping the presents, the decor, the food, it is all fun and it is part of the celebration, and, as long as people keep others the focus of their heart, I believe it makes God smile. It is best spelled this way:

Jesus
Others
Yourself

That is pure JOY!

A blessed Christmas to you!

The best gift you could give to the world, and as a bonus making yourself happy at the same time, is to stimulate the economy by buying things you want. That way everyone has a job, and technology, health care, science & luxuries are invented and become cheaper and more prevalent for all. The alternative is meaningless sacrifice, and the only result of that philosophy is death for one and all.

It is all about money for some people. But the people who believe in Jesus know better. It is about celebrated His birth. And what He came down here to do for us. I am praying people dont get caught up in the "rush" which is easy for us to do. But remember what this whole celebration was founded upon. Have a blessed Christmas!

Yes I wish people would get the real meaning of Christmas instead of all those gifts and fancy cars and all that stuff.

My family, parents brother and sister in law all decided that we would rather just spend time and have dinner with each other than to buy stuff that we cant afford. We are there for each other always anyway so this will make it just a nice holiday. Screw the commercialization of it.

No. They've disregarded Christ except for some token lip service and worship Santa Claus as a pagan idol.

Christmas is largely dead here in America. It's just another way for retailers to make $$$ and for materialistic jerk-weeds to get their "stuff" now.

I'm with you when I hope that people should see that Christmas is not about the material things but the joy of Jesus' birth.
