CARAPACE (Back)
5 Vertebral Scutes
8 Costal Scutes
16 (average) Marginal Scutes
1 Nuchal Scute, in some species
30 total for some species

PLASTRON (Belly)
Usually 8 pairs of scutes, and 2 or 4 Bridge Scutes for a total of 20. Grand total of 50 or so.

Note that the scutes do not line up with the underlying bones, and that would be a totally different count.
