I've been ringing bells since I was about 10 with my dad, and my family always spent at least one night helping at a local community kitchen every month, not just during the holidays. I hope to incorporate that tradition with my own children once they are old enough. Oh and we always donate gifts to children in need.

I am planning to help as I do every year with the Giving Tree (which is also the same charity that we help for school - backpacks and school supplies, etc.).

This is something done at work - they hang a slip of paper up somewhere with the sex of the child (boy or girl) and age and the gift they want for Christmas.

I would like to do more but to be honest, I am of the mind that so many people are donating to charities that it is over load. I know that someone somewhere will be missed but I don't plan to walk the streets to find someone that is homeless and give them a bag of food. Once, I tried to volunteer for Thanksgiving (serving) and was told they were full. :(

I am collecting receipt points from our local grocery store. When I collect a total of 700 points by shopping there, I get a free choice of Ocean Garden Shrimp, Kalua Pork or Short Ribs, Turkey, or Ham. And what I will do is donate it to my food ministry church to feed the homeless. Also, at the check out register they have a $ amount we want to donate to the food bank ($5, $10, or $20). I ask my daughter which one she would like to donate. She chooses the $20. Later, I explain to her why we did it and what it's used for. My son's school is having a canned goods drive. They donate canned goods to the food bank. We tell our children to not only donate on the holidays but to donate anytime from our hearts and not just because.

I donate to charity and in the past I have rung bells for the Salvation Army, helped Toys For Tots, and helped in other ways. Helping others is important to me, and Christmas is a good time to do it!

I saved a small amount of my salary each month since this January 2006 and before Christmas time comes, I will donate that money I've saved up to charity.

I'm organizing a Raffle for an Aghan, in which all proceeds will be given to a local "end of life" home. If anyone is interested in the Home it's called the Agape House: theagapehouse.com/index.html
